Bibliography Special Bibliography for Books on the Neuro-Sciences "The Neuro-Sciences provide much credibility for the use of Neuro-Semantics & NLP for Stuttering Therapy." |
Bob's recently purchased
books on Neuro-Science
(November 20, 2009)
1. How God Changes Your Brain: Breakthrough Findings from a Leading Neuroscientist by Andrew Newberg, M.D. and Mark Robert Waldman. (Excellent)
The Mind & The Brain by Jeffrey M. Schartz, M.D. and Sharon Begley (Excellent).
2. The Brain that Changes Itself by Norman Doidge, M.D. (Excellent).
3. A User's Guide to the Brain: Perception, Attention, and the Four Theaters of the Brain by John J. Ratey M.D. (Excellent).
4. The Developing Mind: Toward a Neurobiology of Interpersonal Experience by Daniel J. Siegel (Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine. This is a recent purchase of mine. He has a section on "Attachment" that is excellent.)
5. From Molecule to Metaphor: A Neural Theory of Language" by Jerome A. Feldman.
6. The Stuff of Thought: Language as a Window into Human Nature by Steven Pinker (This is a more formal book on linguistics and I didn't find it all that helpful so I 'put it down'.)
7. Pragmatic Thinking & Learning: Refactor Your Wetware by Andy Hunt.
Note: I haven't read all these books. I read those sections that present the material that I can use in my work with cognition and its effect on behavior.

Note: The materials found herein have proven helpful for many PWS. Some (but not all) have found fluency. Others have made much progress. But, this is not about a "quick fix." At best, these tools require two things: 1) Work and 2) Time. If you are willing to work hard, study hard and commit to several months of practice, then read on.
